Steve Meshnick is a Professor of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. He has a medical degree from Cornell and a PhD from Rockefeller University.   Dr. Meshnick has published over 200 scientific articles, primarily on insect-borne tropical diseases such as malaria, African trypanosomiasis and leishmaniasis. He has taught and mentored many graduate students and led research projects in numerous African and Asian countries including Kenya, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, Thailand, Cambodia and India. Steve has recently been conducting studies measuring the efficacy of Insect Shield long-lasting permethrin-treated clothing as protection against tick bites.

2. Using molecular tools to understand the epidemiology of anti-malarial drug resistance
3. The molecular epidemiology of drug resistance in Pneumocystis carinii Pneumonia.
