Dr. Emily Zielinski-Gutiérrez


Dr. Emily Zielinski-Gutiérrez,MPH DrPH is a Behavioral Scientist with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases, in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Emily coordinates educational efforts for vector-borne and zoonotic diseases such as West Nile virus and Lyme disease in the US, as well as working on threats such as dengue in the Americas and Indonesia.

In her role she conducts research to improve the use of prevention tools against these diseases. Her duties include US and international emergency response (such as Rift Valley Fever in Kenya, H1N1 influenza in Mexico and hurricane response in Louisiana) and bioterrorism preparedness.

Emily holds doctoral and masters degrees in public health from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine inNew Orleans,Louisiana, where her studies included medical anthropology, tropical medicine, epidemiology and health communication.

She lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with her husband, daughter, dog, cats and backyard chicken.
